IT’S ABOUT TIME

I wish I had more time. I would sleep more, feel better about having a drink or two, visit parts of the city I haven't yet. I'd try to play more games.

And though there are all different kinds of hours, minutes, and seconds to which you might subject yourself, the overall experience tends mostly to contract, not expand. Of course, you can try to slow things down by keeping track of it all, moving more carefully, or trying to predict what might happen. Maybe you do find some success there, and share a quiet moment or two savoring it. Even still, that's temporary the clock, at the end of every day, beats you

Our contributors this month try to chart that process through words, pictures, sound, and conversation. We're thrilled to share their work, and to use this space to make a brief announcement about how we've been spending time at this magazine:

NEWEST YORK is now a project of Newest York Arts Press Inc., a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit publisher and arts organization with a mission to support and showcase local artists whose work engages with the city. We've been busy: we're printing (!) a book of photography at the end of September and will soon also be able to accept tax-deductible donations, so if you like what you've read so far and want to support a publication that pays its contributors (and always has), please subscribe – it's free!

We're so excited for this next chapter, and we want to share it with you! Want to get in touch? Drop us a line at info@newestyork.co, even if it's just to say hey.

Thank you, as always, for reading.
